| Fisting While Pregnant |

Dear Dinah,
I had a miscarriage last year at 4 months gestation. My husband and I were fisting and when he was done his hand was full of blood, I just found out that I was pregnant and now we are worried because we think that the miscarriage was caused by fisting. should i be concerned that i may have had another miscarriage? Can fisting cause a miscarriage?
Dinah answers: In general, sex during all stages of pregnancy is safe and even preferable. But with fisting, I would place a warning sign. Anything that you do with a fist in the lower vaginal area cannot hurt you, but you have to be careful about the deep fisting.
Unlike (most) penises, a fist isn't limited in how deep it can reach. If you have stretched the vagina from fisting, your partner's fist can easily reach the cervix and with a bit too much pressure it can harm the ever-important function of the cervix to protect and seal the pregnant uterus.
If you can manage to enjoy fisting without getting too excited and going deep, it should be safe (with a scrubbed hand or a glove to avoid infection), but given your history of miscarriage at a relatively later stage, I would suggest that you try finding other sexual outlets. Pregnancy is a very exciting time and it changes how the body looks and feels so enjoy discovering a whole different form of sex, new positions and new feelings.

im 5 weeks pregnant, of i give my partner oral sex and he cums in my mouth and if i swallow would it harm my baby? please give me some info as i dont want to harm my baby.
Dinah answers: There is absolutely no harm that can be done by swallowing ejaculate. If you read more on the contents of his semen, I can assure you that it is one of the healthier things that you can ingest (assuming he has no new STDs).
Just for your interest, receiving oral sex is also perfectly safe, so don't hesitate to let him reciprocate. You are, after all, doing quite a spectacular thing by growing a child and he should feel free to spoil you.
