Who can say Eyjafjallajoekull? OK, try saying “that bloody volcano that cancelled our flights”. Since there's no point in crying over spilled ash, one has to look for the upshot of having your dream holiday trashed or being stranded far from home.
How about ever-popular fantasy of joining the mile-high club (having sex in mid-flight)? Let's speak honestly about that. Having sex in the airplane cubicle? Do the terms 'smelly', 'too small to stand in' and 'long line outside' mean anything to you? The thing about this elusive club is that I don't really believe any of those people who gloat about it, not because it isn't possible but because its unlikely to be very rewarding, beyond the stories you'll tell later. And that includes sneaking a feel under the airline blanket.
But getting back to real and gratifying eruptions, the current air shut-down may just have something to offer the frustrated and bored traveler. Before trying to figure out a way to lie down on airport chairs or heading home, consider the modified version of the mile-high club: sex in the airport. Sure, you are likely to be caught on camera (what, you don't think airplanes have cameras?) but think of all those excellent nooks and crannies in terminal buildings. Now this is the stuff that fantasies are made of.
For those of you flying solo, just grab your handy vibrator that you stuffed deep between your socks, hoping the X-ray machines wouldn't pick up. Newsflash: they CAN see your sex toy and they do NOT care.
If you're one of those sorry individuals who left your toy at home or in the sex store, take the time to think about daring to do those things on your wish list. Why should Iceland have all the good eruptions?
